Ren is one of the 3 Sanada demons, extremely powerful ninjas, who act under the guidance of Misanagi, the Okashira (leader) of the Sanada.
Appearance[]
Ren is a tall man with long brown hair that extends past the bottom of his head.
Ren wears a purple one piece suit that exposes his shoulders and chest, with scales on his stomach, scales on the top of his head, two fangs on each of his cheeks, a black eye patch over his right eye, and a strap that holds his whips on his back.
Personality[]
Ren is a loyal member of the Sanada Clan, and willingly follows his leader's orders. Ren is also a confident man, that over estimates his opponent and what he is capable of.

- Sanada Clan: Ren is a member of the Sanada Clan, and one of their best warriors.
- Misanagi: Misanagi is the clan's leader.
Abilities[]
Ren is one of the three strongest warriors of the Sanada Clan. Ren wields whips in battle. Thanks to Baku's bats, Ren can keep his opponent away from himself and attack from a distance. Once the bats are defeated, Ren is vulnerable to close range attacks.
History[]
Black Knights Arc[]
He fights alongside his comrades (the other two demons), named Zan and Baku, when Himura Kenshin and his friends, assisted by a former Sanada member, named Kaita, attempt to thwart the plans of Misanagi. He encounters Himura Kenshin their battle, he is able to render useless one of Hiten Mitsurugi-ryū's moves (Doryūsen), using a move of his own called "Death Run". This appears to be the only move Kenshin can perform, since he is unable to get inside Ren's range, due to a spell used by Baku's bats, which effects Kenshin's five senses, making him see illusions as soon as he gets near Ren. As a result, Ren manages to grap hold of Kenshin's neck and right hand with his whips. However, after Kaita tells him that the bats are responsible for the spell, Kenshin is able to break free and defeat both Ren and Baku.
