The Difference in Strength is the one hundred eighth chapter of the Rurouni Kenshin manga.

Synopsis[]

The fight of Sanosuke v. Anji continues, but it's quite clear that Anji has a big advantage since he can use the Futae no Kiwami with several parts of his body, while Sanosuke only has his right hand. Trivia[]

  • Anji's act of pulverizing a statue of the Buddha to dust is evocative of the koan "If you meet Buddha on your path, cut him down".
  • When Anji lands a direct Futae no Kiwami on Sanosuke and thinks he killed Sanosuke, he chants "Namu Amida Butsu" (南無阿弥陀仏). That is a Nianfo or Nembutsu: a sutra, which is the repetition of the name of Amitābha (the primary Buddha of Pure Land Buddhism).
